After doing my lifting and first WOD today we kept hearing a loud fighter jet flying over. It’s not necessary uncommon to hear them flying low here but certainly not as common as it was growing up in Bensalem with Willow Grove nearby and Fort Dix and Dover being not all that far away either. We’d see all kinds of planes and formations at times and I can even remember seeing stealth fighters flying low in the 80s.
We’ve gotten food and drinks from Joy’s Tavern for our weekly eating out night for the past few weeks. The food each time has been awesome. Other than last week (our own fault waiting 15 minutes for slushies) the food has been hotter and fresher than many of the other places we’ve been getting takeout during the whole pandemic thing. They actually have pretty good cheese steaks. The best part about it is they don’t call them Philly cheese steaks!
A couple of years ago we discovered that little dippers in Mount Joy has Penn State Creamery ice cream. We went there far too often the last two summers after discovering that they had the Penn State ice cream and just how good that stuff is. It’s easily some of the best ice cream I’ve ever had. They have unique flavors and they have neat names for a lot of them.
We don’t get pizza all that often but when we do, we typically get Two Cousins Pizza since they have the drive through. We’d go other places to dine in but obviously with the whole pandemic that’s not even an option if we wanted it to be. Anyways Molly got home from work pretty late so we decided to grab a pizza and chill on the patio with an adult beverage since it was such a nice evening.
We decided to head over to Harvey’s BBQ for supper tonight. We both love their pulled pork and the brisket is awesome too. I get that a often myself but wanted something a little bit different than the usual. I was actually considering a burger or something like that. Our server mentioned their specials, one of which was their southern lasagna which she said was pulled pork or brisket layered with BBQ sauce and mac and cheese.
We’ve been meaning to get back to this place for a while but we like to walk and the weather’s been quite uncooperative for that. Today it worked out that we went over there and I am glad we did. Normally I get the pulled pork or beef brisket which have both always been amazing. Today the special was Ribs with a specialty sauce. I decided to try the ribs and I’m very glad I did.
2018 was the year of rain, humility and flooding. It rained then rained some more than rained even more most of the summer. It seemed like every other day we were in a flash flood watch then it quickly escalated into a flash flood warnings. Twice most areas here around Mount Joy were flooded with most roads in blocked. The second time I remember we had thunderstorms for a few hours with 10+ inches of rain in that time.
We love going to Rosie’s Tavola for supper once in a while. Not as often as we’d like but it helps us appreciate it more when we do go. We’ve never had bad food there. I’ve had 5 or 6 different things since they’ve been open and It’s always Excellent. It’s one of our favorite places to go on our go out to eat night.
We decided to go for a quick cache near Cove Park today. It was a near a neat area near an old dam. Nice quick walk and one couldn’t ask for a nicer day to do this. We happened to notice this woolly bear caterpillar on the trail. They remind me of he stuff my grandparents used to say. Of course things like this predicting weather is complete bullshit but still it’s was a nice memory Saw this little guy crossing the trail.
Wow… I don’t know if it woke me up or I was awake but I heard a deep rumbling and thought that sounds like an earthquake. Well I got up and went on the computer and checked Millersville’s real time seismic data.. Something showed up.. So maybe it wasn’t my imagination. Checked USGS’s earthquake site and they showed a confirmed 3.3 earthquake just north of Mountville, pa Pretty cool! Here’s info for the [“Magnitude 3.
Last week there was a tornado warning in Lancaster county. It turned out that the NWS said it was straight line wind damage but it got me wondering how many tornadoes have been in this area. A few years ago there was the one in Campbelltown. That was an F-2 and destroyed some houses. Molly told she remembered hearing about a small tornado in town.. I did find one on the NWS’s site that could have been the one she was talking about.
