Went Roller Skating, Didn't Die

The other day we went roller skating with the grand kids at the Mount Gretna Roller rink. I didn’t fall, die or break anything and it’s the first time I’ve been on roller skates since I was in elementary school. It would seem that roller skating is sort of like riding a bike, it’s just one of those things you don’t forget how to do once you learn it.

Sure it was a little awkward at first but after a few minutes I was doing it like it hasn’t been 30 years since the last time I was on skates. I think the biggest factor slowing me down is I didn’t want to run over anyone. I’m a lot bigger now and more aware of my visual limitations than I was or cared about 30 years ago.

It really as pretty fun to do something I haven’t done in so long. It was an even better feeling to realize that because of all the fitness related things I do that I was able to just enjoy in and not think how sore I would be tomorrow or be totally out of breath like most people my age would be. I was able to actually help the kids a bit learning to skate I think.

I would definitely recommend visiting the Mount Gretna Roller Rink for something fun and cheap to do with kids that involves more than just sitting and watching a screen.
