I haven’t paid much attention to baseball even though I have become interested in it again for the first time since the strike in the 1990’s The main reason is because I don’t know what channel the Phillies are on with our cable channels. Just last week Molly was surfing and I saw them while she left the room with that channel on. I noticed they don’t take as long between pitches now as they used to which would make it more enjoyable to watch.
Molly gave me a Creative Zen Vision W for my birthday this year. I am impressed with how well I can see the screen. It’s bright even at 50% back light and has good contrast. That’s important to me because with my old player I could hardly see it with it’s pretty bad contrast. The screen is huge too.
I have the 60 GB version which I would’ve preferred anyways. I’ve put everything on there and still have over 10 GB to spare.
Scientists Find Water on Extra-solar Planet
This was pretty interesting. it really doesn’t surprise me at all since Hydrogen is the most common element in the universe and Oxygen is the third most abundant element. Pretty cool that they found signs of water outside of the solar system.
It’s things like this that make me really believe there is other life in the universe besides Earth. I’d be surprised if there were forms of life on Earth that we never thought were possible.
We had a nice storm come through this afternoon. I wasn’t expecting much today with all the clouds in the morning and with yesterday’s disappointment still fresh in my mind. Seems like every time we get a tornado watch nothing really happens in the area. The one in 2003 that was a PDS tornado watch still sticks in my mind because hardly a storm developed that day. At least we managed to get some sun today.
I have a Nintendo Wii which I love to play but just don’t use it that often. Being visually impaired I have to sit up close to the TV to play and it’s pretty uncomfortable. Still it’s lots of fun. I just had the urge to play Zelda. I don’t get to play as often as I’d like.
Last Sunday we were home from geocaching and Molly wasn’t watching TV so I thought I’d play for a bit.
Guinea pigs make great pets. They’re easy to take care of and don’t need a lot but they have different personalities. We have four of them. Sometimes they have the strangest behaviors. I got a couple of pictures last week and Molly finally got them off of her camera so here they are.
Once in a while they make a rumbling sound and chase each other around. I’m not sure if it is sexual or if it’s a dominance thing but they try to mount each other.
With it being warmer Our four guinea pigs have been laying around more outside of their igloos except for peppy. Anyways here’s how Teddy lays on her side. She lays that way often and sometimes we are worried she’s dead because she doesn’t wake up very quickly.
The other ones we have lay on their sides but not very often. Teddy is almost always sleeping this way.
Did you ever lose touch with a friend and wish you didn’t? I always considered the vision teacher I had through out most of school a real friend but when I graduated I lost touch with her even though I had her phone number. I’m not sure why. My best guess I was pretty depressed at the time.
Well anyways she was just one of those great people. She was a positive influence on me.
Mysterious Clouds Creeping Out of the Arctic This was interesting. It talks about Noctilucent clouds being seen further south than they normally are. Yet another very cool thing up in the arctic that I want to see. I only first read about these 50 mile high clouds this week.
The article mentioned the climate changing but it was nice for a change because they didn’t go on with the doomsday global warming stuff.
Yesterday was hot and humid. I know I’ve seen many days that were much worse but yesterday seemed pretty rough. I guess I’m just not used to this. When I lived near Philly there were days where it was around 100 and dew point in the 70s or even close to 80.
In the afternoon we were missed to the north and to the south by thunderstorms that prompted server thunderstorm warnings.
