I hate Spam

I hate spam.  I hate the fact that I have to waste my time going through my email to look for an important message sifting through what is ninety percent spam.  Email is basically useless with such a high signal to noise ratio.

Could you imagine if your regular phone  worked like email does?  It would be constantly ringing to try to trick you into buying viagra.

Close behind that would be people trying to sell you the next new way to lose weight.  It would be all about the new medical diet or the next fat burning pill.  Then there would be the revolutionary devices that make your lose  weight while doing nothing.

If I believed in Hell I would really hope there is a special area reserved for spammers and those who sell email addresses to spammers.  Die now spammers.  The spam must work to a point or else they wouldn’t bother.  This just shows the sad state of humanity.

Wanting to find a way to make honest money online

One thing I would love to do is come up with a way to legitimately make some money online.  Then I would not feel so guilty even though the reason I am not out is because transportation is the issue.

I would like to come up with something that is honest and does not involve lying or scamming people.  That rules out something like 90% of the possibilities there doesn’t it?   Also out is spamming of any kind.  Spam is extremely annoying and that’s why I would not do it.

My problem really is the fact that I have morals.  Not perfect and I’ve strayed from them in the past with other things in life but I do try to stick to my beliefs.  It’s not easy sometimes but doing the right thing isn’t easy.

I don’t want a get rich quick scheme.  The only person that will get rich is maybe the person who came up with the original idea.  I just would love to find something stable.  Something that could help us get into a better place.

I am tired of feeling guilty about not doing something but I do not even know where to begin looking.  My goal for the the new year is to look harder.

My inspiration on this is my brother who works his ass off with his tree business.  Maybe he works too much but his goals are different than mine.

Last storm of 2010

While we didn’t get much snow from Sunday/Monday’s Storm here in central Pennsylvania we got plenty of wind.  Sunday night starting around midnight I guess I just was hearing a constant wind, not guts like it usually is.  That continued as Jersey and New York got slammed with snow with the storm bombing off the coast.

The wind continued Monday and apparently may have blown a couple of shipping containers from a train into the river off the bridge near Harrisburg.

This sure was an interesting storm to watch after a month of basically wasted cold here.

mafia wars incompetence.

Zynga’s mafia wars team are people I will never understand.  They blatantly ignore the players’ requests and go ahead and add more crap into the game trying to make it more than a click game while they have many players who have shown they’re more than willing to spend tens of thousands of dollars in cash.

It’s interesting how they continue to drive people away or at least cause them to stop spending.  If I’d have to guess they’re are being run by idiot marketers who have no idea who actually plays the game.

Take the latest “upgrade” for example where they changed the inventory page.  While I agree it needed to be changed but now when I look at it all I can think is what the fuck?  They must have been high.  Then again I thought that when they introduced animals after people begged them not to.  I’m thinking that team is run by people who shouldn’t even be allowed to flip burgers on their own.

facebook sucks

This is something I’ve been wondering for quite a while and will never understand it.  How do people manage to keep a job when they cannot seem to make something function?  Take facebook for an example.  It seems like every day some of my friends’ profiles are not available.  Even better is when you try to log into your own account it won’t let you.  That’s been going on for at least a year now.

Last week things got worse when facebook was just giving random errors and nothing at all would load.  After that it was loading everything as https. It also gave errors when logging in and the stupid little graphical words one must read were not loading at all.

Inbox messages would not send for me and it seems that some people are still having problems sending them.  I can delete some now and they magically reappear.  I must have deleted one of them 10 times now.

Discussion boards in facebook groups just plain suck.  Half the time they won’t load right and a bug that’s been in existence since I first started facebook is that you can’t just jump to the last page.  When you click on any of the numbers from the main group it shows the first page.

It would be nice if someone came up with something that gives them competiion.

Nice snow storm.

Yesterday we had a good snow storm.  Very little wind occurred with it but snowfall rates of maybe 2 or 3 inches an hour happened Friday night.  I saw it snowing heavier than I remember seeing it snow before.  By the end ot the storm we had about 20 inches of snow on the ground.  Not bad considering the storm was forecast to be better just south of us which has happened more than once this year.  Near the Mason Dixon line into Maryland have been the big winners.

This was the most snow we’ve received since the President’s day storm of 2003.  That storm had given us close to two feet also..

The nice thing is that the snow should stick around for a little while with it getting to near 30 during the day and low teens at night to refreeze the melted snow.

Now looks like maybe some lite snow Tuesday into Wednesday.  That should be fun.

more cold

January 2nd, 2010

December was a good month.. We had above average snow with the storms overdoing the original forecasts and plenty of cold air.  There is still some snow on the ground from the surprise 3-4 inches we received for New years.  Now we’re between an ocean storm off the new england  coast and high pressure over the northern plains states.

We’ll see what happens later in the week.
